Couples Therapy

Change what happens between you.

Relational therapy for partners working through communication loops, emotional disconnection, invisible load, ruptures in trust, and the recurring patterns that no longer fit who you have become.

Most couples don't need to disagree less. They need a different experience when disagreement arrives — one where each person can stay present, where repair is possible, and where the relationship becomes a place both partners want to come home to.

“The goal is not to eliminate disagreement. It is to change what happens between you when disagreement arrives.”

What we work on

Couples often arrive with some combination of:

  • Communication loops that never quite resolve
  • Emotional disconnection and roommate dynamics
  • Invisible load and unequal caregiving
  • Rebuilding after a rupture in trust
  • Transitions: parenthood, career shifts, illness, loss
  • Sex, intimacy, and desire
  • Recurring conflict about the same three things
  • Preparing for marriage or partnership

How I work

My couples work is grounded in attachment theory, Gottman-informed research, and contemporary relational and emotionally focused approaches. Sessions are structured enough to hold hard conversations and warm enough for both partners to risk being honest.

We name the pattern, understand what each of you is protecting, and build the specific skills — de-escalation, repair, differentiation — that let the relationship carry its actual weight.

Format

Weekly or biweekly 60- or 75-minute sessions. Telehealth throughout California; in-person as available. Initial phase typically includes a joint intake and one individual session with each partner.
